FAQ

How does the CSA Farm Share Work?

A Farmstead Hudson Valley CSA Share is like a subscription for a peak season taste of the best summer has to offer. You sign up in advance, either for the season or a month, and we provide produce, flowers and a little something extra from a local farmer or maker we love. This might be goat cheese, fresh made bread or any number of small batch, artisanal food products, each a reflection of the season and each a delicious treat for your table.  We accept both up front payment and payment in automatic installments.

When does the summer season run?

The Summer Share runs for 13 weeks, from June 12 through September 4th. Pickups begin Friday June 12th.

What is a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a partnership between farmers and consumers, where members purchase a "share" of the farm’s seasonal harvest or products in advance. By joining our CSA, you become part of our farm family, supporting local agriculture and helping us grow a sustainable, resilient Hudson Valley food system.

Each week, we gather the best of what's ready in the fields and set it aside for you — greens, vegetables and herbs, all grown right here at Farmstead Hudson Valley. Early in the season, before our field grown flowers come in, we partner with local flower farmer Feather Hill Farm who creates the most beautiful bouquets for our boxes.

How is your CSA Farm Share different?

Farmstead Hudson Valley’s CSA gives you just a little more. Each week, we’ve selected a product we love to add to your weekly box. For example, in addition to our field grown produce and flowers, you might receive a loaf of bread from local favorite, Mel the Baker, delicious goat cheese from Ardith Mae, or coffee from the Hudson Roastery.

Do you grow organically?

Yes, we practice organic farming. We don't spray, we build our soil with care, and we grow varieties chosen for flavor rather than shelf life. We aren't certified organic, but we're happy to walk you through exactly how we farm.

What can I expect in each box?

Each box contains a sampling of field grown produce in season, a breezy summer bouquet, and something special from one of our local purveyors. It’s enough for a family for a weekend and will feed 2 people for a week or so.

How much does it cost?

The full Summer Share is $810, which works out to about $62 per week. A monthly share is available for $280 which works out to $70 per week. Customers are also welcome to order our farm share on a weekly basis as the season begins.

Where are your pick up locations?

Your CSA box can be picked up at our Stuyvesant farm on Fridays between 4-6 or at any number of convenient locations in the Columbia County area.

Do you offer delivery?

Delivery is available within Columbia County for an additional $10 per box per week.

Can I skip a week/month?

That’s easy. Just let us know the week prior and we’ll cancel your delivery for that week, and refund you the price of that box. Please let us know 48 hours in advance of your travels, and we'll hold your share — either doubling up the following week or gifting it to a neighbor in need through our community share program.

Can I order by the week?

Weekly orders will be available beginning May 15. Order by Tuesday for delivery on Friday.

What if I don't like something in my share?

We think you’ll love everything we grow as much as we do, but if there’s something in your box you don’t like, let us know. We want you to be happy. The goal is a share you look forward to and eat.
