THE TWIN BARNS
AT THE STAATS HOUSE

Two preserved 19th century barns overlooking the Hudson River.

Located where Stockport Creek meets the Hudson River, 10 minutes from Hudson, Twin Barns at The Staats House is a place of outstanding natural beauty and historic significance.

The land surrounding the barns is of unique ecological importance. To the south, the Stockport Creek meanders to the Hudson River, its tidal rhythm defining the passing of the days. The area is an important spawning ground for freshwater fish and nesting birds, offering daily views of bald eagles and herons along the River flyway.

The barns have been used for at least a century for agricultural purposes and are beautifully positioned in the landscape overlooking the Stockport Creek estuary and Hudson River. Our work to preserve them honors the heritage of the many generations who have farmed our historic lands, reaching back to before the 17th century.

The Staats House, which is said to be the earliest in Columbia County, was constructed in 1654 from stone found on the property. It has been cared for by generations, and we are its latest caretakers.

Twin Barns at the Staats House is available for photo and film shoots.
